Yann Crenn (born in 1999 in Paris) is a French contemporary artist whose work explores the relationship between technique and emotion. Trained at the prestigious Ateliers de Sèvres in Paris and later at ÉCAL – École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne, Crenn has developed a visual language that blends precision, movement, and material experimentation.
Straddling painting and sculpture, Crenn’s works, sometimes inspired by elements from nature, transform real motifs into effects of decomposition or concealment. A raised foreground invites the viewer to discover colors or to recombine the patterns. His works create vibrant surfaces that appear to shift depending on the viewpoint. This dynamic interaction lies at the heart of his practice: Crenn’s art encourages participation, inviting the viewer to experience color, light, and form as living phenomena.
In recent years, his works have been showcased in solo exhibitions in Paris as well as at international art fairs such as Moderne Art Paris, Contemporary Istanbul, and Art Miami, attracting the attention of collectors and curators. Represented by a major Parisian gallery, Yann Crenn’s art has entered both private and institutional collections.
Combining craftsmanship with conceptual clarity, Yann Crenn’s practice highlights the sensory and emotional power of contemporary art. His approach transforms technique into poetry—making every mark, line, and shade a meditation on transformation and perception.
