Kaan Ege
Önal

Kaan Ege Önal (born 1996 in Kütahya, Turkey) is a contemporary painter based in Germany, represented by SKM Galerie. Raised in a family of artisans, he spent his childhood in ceramic and porcelain studios, absorbing traditional Turkish craft and a rich visual heritage.
He pursued his formal art education at a High School for Fine Arts (2010-2014) and later studied painting at Mersin University, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts. In 2017 he relocated to Germany to broaden his practice and perspective. Önal’s painting merges figurative imagery with cultural symbolism. Initially his work was confrontational and socially charged focusing on inequality, tension, and what is overlooked. Since 2024 his focus has shifted: he now engages deeply with the relationship between human and culture, integrating traditional motifs from diverse cultures into a universal visual language.
Exhibiting regularly in German cities and beyond since 2022, Önal has already earned several accolades and nominations, including support from foundations such as the Ingeborg Sieber-Stiftung. His representation by SKM Galerie confirms his commitment to an evolving international art scene. Önal’s art engages the viewer not by telling stories overtly, but by offering a space of reflection drawing on craft, identity and the shared human condition. Whether you are a collector or an art enthusiast, his canvases offer visual depth, cultural resonance and contemporary relevance.
